Octavo; paperback; 329pp. [121pp. + 208pp.], with many monochrome illustrations. Minor wear. Very good.

Edwin Abbott was an American Shakespearean scholar who wrote the world's first mathematical science fiction work, an exploration of life in a two-dimensional reality called "Flatland". Although a work of speculative fiction (before the term was coined), it helped readers to visualise the concepts of different dimensions and to begin to grasp the nature of a quantum reality. It was so popular that many other writers took the concept and extended it using their own researches, creating sequels that moved into non-Euclidean spaces and even higher - and lower - dimensional realties. We're lucky to have a number of the Flatland writings here at the one time for your enjoyment.
